  • Empowerdex was part of the team that consulted to the Department of Trade and Industry with respect to the development of the Codes of Good Practice for broad-based black economic empowerment.
  • Empowerdex has been actively involved with the Department of Agriculture in the updating of its AgriBEE initiative. It is in the process of conducing a benchmark study, aligning the sector's draft transformation charter with the guidelines set out in the Codes of Good Practice and conduced countrywide briefings to farmers in both rural and urban areas.
  • Empowerdex has just completed a sector audit for the Department of Minerals and Energy to determine private sector compliance against Petroleum and Liquid Fuels Charter.
  • Empowerdex was appointed by the Department of Communication as a consultant to measure the level of economic empowerment in the ICT sector and was part of the research team which supported the ICT sector steering committee in the development of the first three drafts of the ICT sector charter.
  • Empowerdex was appointed by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) to create a comprehensive BEE index for the tourism sector. It also consulted to the DEAT in developing a BEE scorecard for the tourism sector, as well as developing a BEE procurement tool for the department.
  • Empowerdex was part of the consortium that studied the effects of affirmative procurement on economic empowerment on behalf of the Department of Public Service and Administrations.
  • Empowerdex assisted the Wine and Liquor Industry to draft a BEE industry Charter.
  • Empowerdex was appointed the official rating and accreditation agency for the Corporate Suppliers Development Forum. The forum members include corporations such as Standard Bank, Nedcor, Sentech, SAB, Coca Cola and Rand Water. The members aim to identify and develop BEE suppliers through affirmative procurement initiatives.
  • Empowerdex has also assisted JSE listed companies and other large South African corporates such as the South African Breweries (SAB), Distell and Medscheme in the development and improvement of their BEE frameworks and strategies.
  • Empowerdex compiles the annual Top Empowerment Company published by Financial Mail, which studies and ranks the top 200 JSE companies in terms of broad-based black economic empowerment.
